Chronic Lyme Disease

Hi! I’m Lauren. When I was 16, I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme disease. I was symptomatic for years before that. I had to come to terms with the fact that if I wanted to feel well and work towards healing my body, I needed to make drastic changes. I have always been someone who lives life to the fullest, but my health was limiting me from living a full life. I did everything I could to change that. I educated myself on the power of food and began to make small changes that brought me to where I am today.

Although at the time it seemed I was just taking baby steps, over time those small changes added up to remarkable results. It is amazing to see that you truly have the power to change your life. The benefits of a healthy lifestyle are undoubtedly desirable, but it can be difficult to get started and to stick with it. At times, it was overwhelming and frustrating for me to make what felt like a huge lifestyle change. I had to remove dairy, gluten, and heavily processed foods from my diet, take a slew of supplements, and detox regularly.

There were some days when I felt that I did everything right and still felt terrible. I wanted to throw in the towel so many times, but my determination to heal myself kept me on my path. I started to have triumphs! My constant nausea began to subside. I started to have more energy! I even started exercising, which was huge for me because at a point I couldn’t even make it to the end of my driveway without getting worn out.

Trial and error

I started to see what living a healthy life could do for you and from there I only wanted to go further. I began to look at other areas of my life like my beauty products, my makeup, my cookware, and more to find healthier replacements. Through a lot of trial and error, I found some great products that allowed me to still have things I loved like brownies, ice cream, and organic lipstick. I realized I was enjoying the lifestyle I had created. I started to love things I had once hated, like vegetables for example. Yes, I realize this sounds bad coming from a health blogger, but for the longest time, I hated most vegetables.

I can relate to your own issues

I’ve been at this for a long time now and learned a lot along the way. If this is all new to you, I can relate. I know your determination, your fear, your worry, and your skepticism. I am here to help you with your questions and cheer on your triumphs. If you are already far into your journey, I hope we can give each other advice and form a community that fosters discussions and friendship.

It can be isolating to have a dietary restriction, intense allergy, or illness. A healthy journey is as much mental as it is about eating healthy and exercising. I had to learn along my way to find balance in my physical and mental health. Here on Be Well, Please, I take a holistic approach to health. You’ll find advice on both the mental and physical elements of a health journey. I am not here to push a certain lifestyle on you. There is not a magical health protocol that works for everybody. It is all about listening to your body and mind while staying true to your values.

My hope is to share my personal wellness experience in order to make yours a little easier. I am just like you, a person that wants to be healthy — healthy for my family, my friends, and myself. So, in short, I want to share with you how to optimize your wellness without downgrading your lifestyle.
