Garlic has been called Nature’s Antibiotic!
Strong claim. But, I’ve found it to be spot on.
At the first sign of a cold, I start the garlic treatment. Garlic contains several compounds that possess antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral properties, earning its ‘nature’s antibiotic’ nickname.
Here’s the secret to getting the most benefit from this little powerhouse…use fresh garlic.
Chop or use a garlic press to mash the cloves and then let them sit for 10 minutes. This allows the allicin – the magical component of garlic – to form. Then, sneak it into food in its raw form. I know…harsh. True. You don’t want to eat it alone. Not tasty!
